Twelve Timbers was established in January of 2000 by James “Jim” (Vice President) and Christa Holt (President) in Richfield, UT. Jim, a restaurateur by trade, and his wife began the business with a small product offering of Signboards and Letters. After 13 years, the business has grown to nearly 100 employees in peak years, with 50 currently employed, and boasts thousands of different products.
In 2001, Twelve Timbers experienced a tragic fire that destroyed the small woodshed and office. After a re-start in a temporary facility, Twelve Timbers built a custom warehouse in 2004 which currently houses its operations. The new building and implementation of LEAN production techniques has increased workflow and production significantly.
From 2005 to 2009 Twelve Timbers opened and operated a manufacturing facility in the Philippines. As of 2013, nearly all products are manufactured in Utah with roughly 5% sourced in China.
Twelve Timbers specializes in wood manufacturing (pine, MDF, poplar and cork) and uses computer generated CNC production, screen and stencil printing to create many of their signature products. In recent years, new burlap and canvas soft goods products have complicated the core wood product offering.
